Iron Horse Café has been in business since October , 2004. It is the brainchild of Jerry Bajalia who convinced his reluctant brother Sammy to join him in this new venture. The brothers are Birmingham natives and career businessmen, having previously worked on many ventures both together and separately since high school. Before the idea of Iron Horse was born Sammy and Jerry had their hands in the auto industry. However, when the economy turned and the industry began to become very unstable, Jerry started to look for new avenues of opportunity to explore.

While looking for something new, the brothers stumbled across a bar/café that was for sale: Smokey Joes. This joint was exactly what they were looking for! After a few weeks of negotiations a deal was finally struck! The duo ran the bar as Smokey Joes until February of 2005, at which time they decided to do some remodeling. Once finished, the new venue opened again on March 11, 2005 and the Iron Horse Café that we know and love was born. Since that day we've had an overwhelming response from our customers who are very loyal, especially the SGA who have been with us from the beginning! Also, let us not forget all of our staff members past and present who have helped to make Iron Horse the success that it is today.

Lastly, we look forward to seeing you at the Iron Horse! Thanks!
